How can FSC work with you on your media projects?

The Film Scoring club is a diverse group of students at Berklee College of Music who are driven to create original music and sound for films.

Our primary goal as an organization is to open doors from our specialized programs to the media production departments of other universities nationwide. Few things can replace real-life experience when it comes to any artistic or creative medium.

This truth is why we at the FSC are searching out schools and students who are interested in expanding in their field through practical experience before being placed in such a competitive industry.

Our organization is made up of film composers, songwriters, sound designers, and audio mixing engineers who are eager to collaborate with you on your film, television, game, or media projects from as large as feature-length films to as small as class media projects. For you as a filmmaker, working with us brings you three major benefits:

  1. Your project gains high-quality original music or sound design. Our program is unique in having so many styles of composers represented. No matter the kind of project you have, there will undoubtedly be an artist here who is anxious to work on it! We represent musical styles ranging from electronic dance music to fully orchestral Hollywood style (sometimes even from the same composer!). We have songwriters and bands who can place original or existing songs into projects, and we have artists able to creatively turn ordinary sounds into extravagant alien beasts through sound design. We can recreate Foley effects and ambient background audio. All of these options are available to you to help push your film or media project to a higher level.
  2. You get the experience of learning how best to communicate with a composer or sound designer. Find out how to relay your emotional ideas to our artists, and you will be gaining those valuable modes of expression for later collaboration with audio specialists outside of this controlled learning environment.
  3. You may also begin building director-composer relationships that could last as career-long partners. The directors, editors, composers, DPs, and camera operators in school today will be the leaders of the industry tomorrow, and this is a great opportunity to start meeting more people in an industry based largely on networking.
Our facilities, faculty, and training give us the ability to work with ease when it comes to working with film. Berklee College of Music is currently the only school in the world offering a 4-year undergraduate degree in film scoring, an important factor which gives us many technical advantages that composers without our training may miss out on. Our members from all over the world have come here because of our passion for films, and we hope to share that passion with your program.

We are anxious to hear from you and begin working together. We believe that everyone benefits from this situation, and it is exciting in this age of communication that long-distance collaborations such as this are not only possible, but are becoming a regular occurrence in an industry where everyone cannot be everywhere all the time.

Further details can be found in our Frequently Asked Questions section of our website.

Thank you for taking the time to explore this new adventure with us! We look forward to working with you!
